Why is the baseline for the new budget the budget that included the (failed) stimulus? I could be wrong, but I thought that was a one-off. Wasn’t it sold that way? The Democrats were going to plow some $800 billion into the economy and everything would turn around, then we could get back to normal. Suddenly, the extraordinary spending is part of the baseline.
Why aren’t the Republicans talking about this? I can’t be the only one who remembers the stimulus being sold as a one-off. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been called a stimulus package, it would’ve simply been a hugely expanded budget… like it is NOW.
